In May 2006, Digital Crew was awarded the contract to redevelop the PFH website and provide a comprehensive content management solution that will grow with them for many years to come.
About PFH
PFH Technology Group (PFH) is one of Ireland's largest and most respected IT Services Companies with a client base that comprises a mix of small to medium sized enterprises and large corporate enterprises from all industry sectors.
The company’s primary objective is to help other organisations with their IT problems, goals and agendas; they provide excellent solutions and adhere to industry standards including ITIL and ISO9000.
Initial Consultations
During initial consultations, we worked closely with PFH staff to plan the new site structure, identify their goals and interpret exactly how they wanted their new site to look, work and feel. We also agreed project deadlines and designated lead project contacts in both our organisations.
The Solution
PFH provided us with a set of guidelines, color schemes, existing media and some links to sites they liked. PFH wanted to keep the vertical size of the home page to a minimum and to keep their phone number on-screen throughout the site.
Our lead designer created several designs and after some too-and-fro we settled on a design that matched PFH's look and feel and adhered to the company branding by incorporating colors from their logo.
Content Management System
Our Content Management System, TeamworkCMS manages all of the site's content including:

- Unlimited Site Pages
- Site Settings
- Contact emails
Newsletter Management System
A custom-built newsletter management system was integrated into the PFH Content Management System.
Search Engine Optimization
The site uses search-engine friendly URL throughout. These allow site indexing software used by search engines such as Google to easily index the website. The automatically generated site map also allows the indexing software to easily find all pages on the site.
The site uses good coding practices to ensure that search engines rate the website as a well designed and structured website; these practices include the correct use of semantic elements such as heading tags and use of a unordered list navigation.
The site's CMS system automatically generates a XML sitemap document that adheres to the industry standard site map XML format pioneered by Google in 2006.
Value for Money
By using our in-house developed bespoke content management system, TeamworkCMS, to power the new website we were able to shave weeks off the standard development and CMS integration time another agency might have to endure. This time could be spent providing a better solution for our client and thereby we delivered more value for money than a typical web agency can offer.
Quality Control
Each project at Digital Crew is assigned a Quality Controller. For this project the quality controller was Daniel Mackey - a developer with years of web development experience. Dan ensured that each page of the site looked and worked well by reviewing the completed and ensuring that all extra work items he requested were completed.
In addition, immediately prior to launch, we "second-fixed" the entire website. The means than once all the content was in place, the developers went through each page of the site to ensure that all pages were looking well, tweaking images, design and layout where they deemed necessary.
All functional elements such as contact forms and site search were carefully tested.
The website was available online at a preview URL for the client to also perform their own testing and ensure they were complete happy with the site before putting it live.

We delivered a professional site that matches the client image and allows their
non-technical staff to easily maintain and add to the content using our state of
the art content management system.
